In this paper, well examine how solar energy company SunPower will  be introduced to Brazil and the United Arab Emirates, or UAE. Both nations provide a great deal of opportunity for new businesses, as well see.  Brazil is part of the so-called emerging BRIC conglomerate, which stands for Brazil, Russia, India and China. These four nations are emerging nations as they burst onto  the international economy. Brazil is becoming a world player, especially with its exports of coffee, airlines and other products (Kwintessential, 2008). Furthermore,  Brazil is seeing an increase in its service arena - and even better news is that the country is trying to wean itself from its dependence on foreign oil (Kwintessential,  2008). The country is building toward using hydroelectric power - instead of importing 70% of its oil, the country now imports 33% (Kwintessential, 2008). Hydropower supplies the country with 92%  of its electricity (Kwintessential, 2008). In short, Brazil is looking for any and all opportunities to participate in ventures dealing with renewable energy and weaning itself off foreign oil.  When it comes to export strategies from Brazil, Aulakh et al (2000) point out that the best way to go is through a  differentiation strategy, rather than cost leadership - in other words, SunPower should focus on how its product is different (i.e., more reliable, better service, etc.) than undercutting the competition with
