In business offices of all  types, communication, information transfer, and even meetings take place through the terminals at individual work stations. Retail operations rely on their databases for ordering, inventory, and sales information. Manufacturing processes  take advantage of just-in-time ordering, engineering models, and a host of other processes. Even the local car mechanic needs to have the latest computerized diagnostic tools to deal with the  sophistication of modern cars and trucks. With all that has evolved in the technology world in the past twenty years, it has become clear that as soon as one  application of information technology becomes commonplace, the proverbial "new and improved" version shows up to take its place. Each of the examples listed above and countless other IT issues all  have an impact on corporate management and the ways in which organizations are run. As a result, it is essential that corporate leaders be aware of the latest trends in  information technology and be prepared, to the best of their ability, to take advantage of such advances. But they must also be careful to not be blinded by the bells  and whistles of technology or the "gee-whiz" factor. Instead, they must be able to determine which knowledge management tools will best serve their organizations needs and overall objectives. Case-Based  Reasoning Modern technology has a predominating and decisive influence on individual and collective choices. This influence depends on the following specific characteristics of technology: rationality, artificiality, automatic choices, self-generation,  oneness, the domino effect, universality and autonomy. All technology involves a process of rational and logical fragmentation according to its own predetermined configuration which tends to repress sudden inspiration and
