Despite a wealth of research, there are still many areas where further research would be of great value to both academic and commercial users.  The design of the research project will indicate the way in which it will be received and accepted or rejected. Careful design will make sure that there are sufficient safeguards  inn place to ensure that the results are reliable, representative and repeatable. Research will usually start with an idea. This needs to be developed into an hypothesis that  can be tested or a single question. The researcher may find that they are biased due to development of the hypothesis, and may set out to prove the hypothesis. The first part of the design is settling on the research question or theory, this needs to be clear with a narrow focus. For example, a project  on how businesses can be successful on the internet would be too wide.
