Clearly, a cultural change must emerge as this firm transitions to one that embraces a production force  that is somewhat limited. The company cannot produce what it once did, and employees experience a bit of a shock as it sees people leave as things change within the  corporation. The effects of downsizing can be devastating for employees. For a man or woman who has had a career in the business for twenty years or so, losing  such employment can wreak financial havoc as well as be detrimental to self-esteem.
