    significantly and all that was left were approximately fifty employees, inclusive of senior partners and secretaries. A student submits that there was a limited production force. First, a bit about  the company should be relayed before a student delves into the problem at hand, which is related to the direction the company should take. Sierra Engineering Company, Inc. is actually  a private firm that is headquartered in California ("Sierra Engineering Company," 2006). The focus of this company is on plastics pipe and pipe fitting ("Sierra Engineering Company," 2006). The  company manufactures fiberglass reinforced plastics and it produces industrial and commercial design as well ("Sierra Engineering Company," 2006). One can see that this engineering company is rather ordinary. It is  a small business that has done well perhaps but is forced to downsize. Clearly, a cultural change must emerge as this firm transitions to one that embraces a production force  that is somewhat limited. The company cannot produce what it once did, and employees experience a bit of a shock as it sees people leave as things change within the  corporation. The effects of downsizing can be devastating for employees. For a man or woman who has had a career in the business for twenty years or so, losing  such employment can wreak financial havoc as well as be detrimental to self-esteem. In the 2000s, many areas around the world had experienced an economic downturn. This example of  Sierra Engineering Company, Inc. is simply one example of many sad stories. Such events have affected the people. They may feel lost if they have worked much of their lives  for one company, and suddenly their jobs are gone. At the same time, one mans loss is anothers gain. There are men and women who get laid off and make
