    Although it is often viewed as a time of relative world quite, in actuality, the Cold War was a time of intense hostilities between major world powers. This period  could also be viewed as one of the beginning stages of globalization. The intent of the Cold War, of course was to stabilize world politics and to maintain peace.  In reality, it could be contended that the real outcome of this political approach was anything but a peaceful and secure world order. Indeed, the Cold War itself  was a kind of warfare, a kind of warfare which was at least partially characterized by the strong insistence of the two major world powers that others in the world  take sides and emulate either one or the other both politically and culturally. This insistence was the driving force in the early stages of globalization.  Globalization entails not only the involvement of a particular state in its social provisions but the influence of the world in general, particularly the influence of powerful  countries. The two major players in the Cold War, of course, were the United States and the Soviet Union. Each offered a multitude of incentives to the smaller  nations of the world to team up with them. Some of these incentives were positive and others were negative. The  trend of one culture dominating over another results in a dominance of global products from both a technological standpoint and a cultural standpoint (Mowlana, 1995). This has a tremendous  impact on the culture and economy of the worlds smaller and less-powerful countries (Mowlana, 1995). Not only are the marketplaces of the these countries flooded with goods and products
