Introduction Toll Holdings Limited is an old company, having been initially  founded in 1888 in Melbourne, Australia by Albert Toll for hauling coal. It was subsequently bought out by a team that included its current Managing Director, Paul Little and Peter  Rowsthorm, the first Chairman in 1986. Toll Holdings was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) in 1993 (Toll Holdings Limited, 2003). Strengths: Today, Toll is the largest  logistics and transport companies in Australia one of the largest freight transportation companies in the Asia/Pacific region (Hoovers, 2010; Australia Freight Transport Report, 2010). It provides an array of logistics  services including warehousing and distribution, and freight forwarding (Hoovers, 2010). As a holding company, Toll actually purchases transportation from different carriers and resells that service to their customers. Its  services cross a variety of diverse industries that include governments, mining, industrial, automotive and retail (Hoovers, 2010). This type of diversification is a definite strength. It also transports by sea,  rail, air and road so it uses all the types of transportation available (Australia Freight Transport Report, 2010). This allows the company to ship in the most cost-efficient manner. Toll  Holdings has a presence in more than 50 nations with more than 700 locations across the world. Its subsidiary, Toll Asia provides management functions in Singapore and other Asian areas  (Hoovers, 2010). Its sheer size is another strength of the company.
