    things that are not really there. People also hallucinate due to mental illness. Other distortions are less severe such as what occurs in color blindness. On a recent X-Files show,  a man who created his own visual world had such a vivid experience, his imagination would render his hallucinations visible to anyone in the room. While such things are the  makings of science fiction, the science facts tell an interesting tale where some people who are so afflicted, actually have an enmeshment of senses, where they perhaps see sounds. This  unusual phenomena did make the newsmagazine rounds not too long ago as victims explained that a certain sound was pink or blue. This unusual phenomenon is called synesthesia. One famous  individual afflicted with the condition is Russian novelist Vladimir Nabokov (Hornik, 2001). Others in creative fields--musicians and artists-- seem to have attained this as well which creates an unusual  phenomenon, but there is no proof that creative individuals are more prone to possess the trait. In delving into this topic, it helps to define the condition. What is synesthesia?  Synesthesia is a sensation that is produced at a point other than, or remote from the source of stimulation, such as a color from hearing a certain sound ("The Synethetic,"  2002). Synesthesia is actually an involuntary joining where real information of one sense is attached to a perception in another sense (2002). In addition to being involuntary, the additional  perception is thought to be real by the synesthete (2002). It is something that is often found outside the body, and those who experience the sensations really do comprehend it  fully, and do not think they have imagined it (2002). An interesting feature of this problem is that it is clearly separate from artistic fancy and its reality and
